So today begins a new segment in HiCleaners article posting history, I will begin to semi-regularly post my experiences with various troubles, advices, and resolutions that I encounter on a regular basis at the job site. Anyways as a regular part of this business I’m at 3-5 houses a day on average, in the gutter cleaning season its more like 10 houses a day average. As you can tell I get to see a lot of houses from all walks of life. What every person has in common be it a small 200,000 house in western mass, to a 10 million dollar eccentric palace, is that they all need to be maintained and cleaned.
For today i’ll focus on roofs. Many people forget about their roofs and just assume the rain will clean it, on the contrary if you have any shady area, which most houses do; due to trees and rooflines, then harmful moss, mildew, and lichen can form. What happens is that the spores blows off from the ground or a tree, they attach to the little grain like surfaces on a shady part of your roof when it is moist, like after a rain or during a due-like condition morning, and then it begins to grow. If caught relatively shortly then no damage should occur, but if left untreated, the spores grow and slowly separate the grains from the shingle thus damaging it and shortening the lifespan. The average roof treating job is 500 dollars, more or less depending on the size of affected area. The average roof replacement job is 20,000. So, to sum up my advice, you would rather pay 500 dollars, then get a roof with 10 less years on its lifespan and have to pay 20,000 dollars 10 years earlier than you should. It really is a no-brainer, call Hicleaners and we will treat your roof and help you save money in the long run. Not to mention it will look better….. you don’t want to have your roof looking like your growing grass on it.
